There are two methods for registering your songs, music, lyrics and literay works with Songrite, the first and by far quickest way is to use the Secure Online Uploading and Registration. Here you can upload your work, from a single song or composition to a whole album of upto 14 tracks or a complete novel or book of lyrics or poems. The second is by regular mail which some people prefer though it is a far slower method.

Online registration

If you choose to use the online submission service, you will need to upload a copy of your work along with the completed online application form. To ensure the safety and security of all clients and their work there is a a protected area with restricted access. To gain admittance to this area, you must complete a membership form and sign a declaration of agreement, once approved you can then upload your work direct to Songrite Copyright Office with complete confidence.

Registration by Mail

If you prefer to use the mail method of registration, please visit the Mail Submissions at the Songrite Copyright Registration Office.

Many works may appear with the same title, but if each work has been created independently, each will have its own copyright protection.

How your Copyright application is processed

Songrite Copyright Office processes your application for registration of copyright upon receipt.

Copyright application files are recorded in an automated system and assigned a file number in the order that they are received.

Review of your application:

A reviewer checks each application to ensure that complete and clear information has been provided. If there are any questions or uncertainties, the reviewer may need to contact the applicant or their agent to request clarification of certain points or to provide additional information to process the application accurately.

How you will be informed:

All contact is by regular mail or by email

Registration:

When an application is considered complete and the appropriate registration fee is received, a registration number is assigned to it. At this point a registration certificate is printed, a quality check performed, and it is mailed to the agent or applicant. Copyright Registration Certificates and Ten Year Contracts are sent to the agent or applicant by mail.
